Professor Komoly served as a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation from 1997 to 2000 and the board of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) from 1996 to 2001.
He is the past President of the Hungarian Neurological Society and a member of over 15 national and international medical societies. Professor Komoly has authored or co-authored over 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals including Lancet, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciencesof the United States of America, Annals of Neurology, Archives of Neurogy, Neurology, Brain.

He graduated from Semmelweis University in 1977 and then obtained a specialist qualification in anesthesiology, intensive care therapy, radiology and neuroradiology. As of 1994, he has been the director of the Neurointervention Programme at OITI as a head physician. His key areas of specialisation are the treatment of cerebral and cerebrospinal vessel diseases, tumours and vascular malformations (blood vessel development disorders) of the skull and the head-neck area, stroke therapy, and the treatment of painful spinal diseases, most importantly fractured vertebra caused by osteoporosis or tumours without open surgery.

Since completion of his residency program and fellowship, Dr. Kattah served on the faculty of Georgetown University for 20 years and obtained the rank of tenured Professor and Vice Chairman before being recruited to the Peoria area.
